Beginning in Nairobi, with its convenient international airport, this 22-day African adventure offers up the prizes of Uganda before heading east towards the beaches of Zanzibar. Enjoy wildlife safari drives across the Serengeti and trek through remote forests for an incredible encounter with mountain gorillas in their own habitat. Travel aboard our overland adventure vehicle (OAV) is well-paced and wilderness camping along the way will bring you closer to the region’s wildlife. Day 1 Nairobi
Arrive at any time.

Day 2 Nairobi/Eldoret
Soak up the scenery as we drive across Kenya's Rift Valley.

Day 3 Eldoret/Kampala
Cross the border into Uganda, then camp outside of the country's capital.

Day 4 Kampala/Kalinzu Forest Reserve
Watch the Ugandan countryside pass by on the day's journey.

Day 5 Kalinzu Forest Reserve/Lake Bunyonyi
Get up early for an included chimpanzee tracking excursion, then visit a tea plantation before setting off for Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 6 Gorilla Trek
Enjoy a guided mountain gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 7 Lake Bunyonyi
Enjoy free time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 8 Lake Bunyonyi/Kampala
Return to Kampala with a stop at the Equator for lunch at the G Adventures supported AidChild Equation Cafe & Gallery.

Day 9 Kampala/Jinja
Explore Jinja, known for its outdoor and adventure activities.

Day 10 Jinja
Spend another day exploring Jinja. Opt to raft down the White Nile River, mountain bike up and down the hills or check out the local market.

Day 11 Jinja/Eldoret
Today is a bit of a travel day but you won’t mind because you could use the rest. The group will be leaving Uganda and crossing over into Kenya and travel to Eldoret. Hang out together as a group and enjoy a nice evening camping under the stars.

Day 12 Eldoret/Nairobi
After your adventurous experiences yesterday you’ll be glad to have a more low-key travel day to replenish your energy. So sit back and enjoy the ride as the group transfers through the Kenyan countryside to Nairobi. We’re thinking naps, story time, and then maybe a mini dance party in the Lando to get you through the day. (Toto’s Africa song anyone?)

Day 13 Nairobi/Arusha
Travel south and cross the border into Tanzania.

Day 14 Arusha/Mto wa Mbu
Visit a Maasai village to learn about the Maasai people and the G Adventures-supported Clean Cookstove project. Meet the local women engineers who have installed clean cookstoves throughout these communities. In the afternoon, opt to visit the Mto wa Mbu village to enjoy a local lunch and cultural experience with the town's villagers.

Day 15 Mto wa Mbu/Serengeti National Park
Enjoy a wildlife safari drive en route to the central Serengeti. Spend the night at a basic bush camp and enjoy the starry African skies.

Day 16 Serengeti National Park
Enjoy a full-day wildlife safari drive in the safari vehicle. Opt for a morning hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti.

Day 17 Serengeti National Park/Ngorongoro Crater
Set off on a wildlife safari drive on the way out of the Serengeti. Camp on the Ngorongoro Crater's rim.

Day 18 Ngorongoro Crater/Arusha
Wildlife safari drive in the Ngorongoro Crater, then return to Arusha.

Day 19 Arusha/Stone Town
Fly to the beautiful island of Zanzibar and transfer to the hotel. Enjoy an orientation walk with your CEO in historic Stone Town, and opt to continue on for a longer walking tour, or explore on your own.

Day 20 Stone Town/Nungwi
Transfer to the white-sand beaches and turquoise waters of beautiful Nungwi Beach.

Day 21 Nungwi
Enjoy free time to lounge on the beach, snorkel, or tour the island.

Day 22 Nungwi/Stone Town
Morning group transfer from Nungwi. Depart Stone Town upon arrival in the late morning.
